Roundup

The best personal branding tools for founders in 2026 (an honest roundup)

An honest look at the personal branding and LinkedIn tools founders actually use in 2026: what each one does, who it is for, what it costs and where it falls short. Including ours.

Merkion Daily Briefing dashboard showing posts this month, Brand Fit score and pillar coverage

By Christopher Sorg and Piero Delgado Arce, co-founders of Merkion. Prices checked on the vendors' websites on 17 October 2026, in USD unless stated otherwise.

We build one of the tools on this list, so take our opinion with that in mind. We have tried to be fair: every tool here is good at something, and none of them, including ours, is right for every founder.

How we picked

We looked at tools founders actually use to build a personal brand, mostly on LinkedIn, and judged them on five questions:

  1. Does it help you define who you are, or only what to post?
  2. Does it write for you, or help you write?
  3. Does it help you stay consistent?
  4. Does it give you feedback before you publish?
  5. What does it cost?

1. Merkion: best for founders who want a system

Merkion is a personal brand operating system. It starts with identity: 14 branding questions become your Brand Map with positioning, voice, pillars and guardrails. A daily Content Interview turns your real work into topics, the Brand Fit score checks every draft against your Brand Map, and the Daily Briefing and Brand Health show what to focus on. It never writes your posts.

  • Strengths: identity first, protects your own voice, feedback on every post.
  • Trade-offs: you still write every post yourself. If you want AI to write and auto-publish for you, it is not the tool.
  • Price: Brand Map €69 one-off, or €49 a month (€39 billed yearly) with a 7-day free trial. Merkion Hub with coaching calls and community is €990 a year.

2. Taplio: best all-in-one LinkedIn growth tool

Taplio bundles AI writing, scheduling, analytics and lead outreach on its top plan.

  • Strengths: broad feature set, established product.
  • Trade-offs: AI writing only from the $69 Growth plan, focus on growth over identity, and some reviewers report billing and cancellation friction.
  • Price: $39, $69 or $199 a month, cheaper billed yearly, 7-day trial.

3. Supergrow: best for AI interviews turned into posts

Supergrow interviews you and writes posts from your answers, then schedules them.

  • Strengths: content starts from your own words, affordable.
  • Trade-offs: the AI still writes the post; analytics are described as basic.
  • Price: $39 a month or $31 a month billed yearly.

4. AuthoredUp: best editor for people who write themselves

AuthoredUp is a LinkedIn editor with formatting, previews, a post library and analytics, mostly used through a Chrome extension.

  • Strengths: great for founders who already write their own posts.
  • Trade-offs: doesn't help with identity or what to say; AI features still in beta.
  • Price: $19.95 a month.

5. Kleo: best voice-trained AI writer

Kleo learns from your writing and a knowledge base about you, then drafts and schedules LinkedIn posts.

  • Strengths: serious effort to match your voice.
  • Trade-offs: premium price, no free trial, drafts still need editing.
  • Price: $99 a month or $999 a year.

6. ChatGPT: best free starting point

Many founders start here. With a good prompt and a Project holding your context it can structure and edit posts well.

  • Strengths: cheap, flexible, useful for everything else too.
  • Trade-offs: writes the average post by default, no scheduling, no LinkedIn analytics, no brand feedback. See Merkion vs ChatGPT.
  • Price: free, $8 or $20 a month for most people.

Newer tools to watch

A few early tools are worth keeping an eye on. selfbrand AI and The Founder Voice both promise posts written in your voice and were still on a waitlist when we checked. We will review them properly once they are generally available.
